Reader,
First of all, thanks for being here!
Hmm, fascinated by how a powerful, intuitive and wide array of choice, the market is offering us for Internal Combustion Engines (It was time when I was planning to buy a KTM DUKE 250), I was subconsciously spotting new bikes and cars around in the traffic, following many auto blogs, vlogs on YouTube, reading about articles which would educate me on new research initiatives by automakers to come up with wide array of features in their products, safety equipment like Traction Control, Anti-Lock Braking Systems making it a common word in automotive world, with all happening in the automotive space, there came a day where I happen to know how ELECTRIC POWERTRAIN fair against INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE on YouTube 'Learn Engineering' channel video I was amazed by a fact that electric powertrains have tonnes of good things over IC engine powertrains.
Hmm, how could I stop by knowing about what electric vehicles to offer over IC engines, I started to do some research on any available Electric Vehicles in the market, only to find a name called, Hmm I know you would have guessed this right, Yes, it's TESLA.
I started to know about the company and their limited set of models like Model S, Model X and watched videos and read blogs which were inexhaustible on these beautiful cars by Tesla, Now learning that these cars are not just electric they are smart enough to drive themselves, made me even more curious to know more about Tesla and of course the architect of that company Mr.Elon Musk, I ended up buying a Biography of Elon Musk by Ashlee Vance, as I read through the book I came to know about the struggle Tesla as a company went through in building the Battery Pack alone made me understand that it is Lithium Ion battery pack that's the challenge here (Cost v/s Range) rather than we getting adopted to EV ecosystem.
So why do we need to adopt from an already existing well-built ecosystem of fossil fuels to new ecosystem of EVs?
Let me tell you a story, I am resident of Bangalore and work for a software company which is at least 25kms from my home, I commute to the office on a bike, once I reach my office usually late in the morning, I would park my vehicle in one level below lower ground of our facility which has minimal ventilation, and at least around 100-150 vehicles are parked there on an average daily, I would go to that spot to park my vehicle when at least 80% of that parking capacity is filled, so that I need to go to farther end of parking to park my vehicle, Now once you enter that parking facility which as minimum ventilation, I feel suffocated and intoxicated with poisonous gases from the emissions of nearly 100s of vehicles which were parked there, But since it is a 2-5 minutes affair for me in the spot, basically that didn't bother me at all, I continued parking there for days, months and years to come, One fine day there was a heavy rain around the office and good amount of rain water did sneak into that parking space, since there's no ventilation and no good air circulation in that spot, with a corner place in parking where water as logged for a long period of time, I noticed there are no signs of green algae growing there, but where as a spot just out of that place where there are a good ventialtion and air circulation I saw healthy amount of green algae.
Now let's think of our planet earth as the Parking Spot, and green vegetation we have as green algae, So where are we heading to? I would like to thank god that ~70% of Planet earth surface is filled with water so that we are given only rest of 30% of real estate to dump tonnes of Carbon to the atmosphere.
With so many processes we have that emits Carbon to the atmosphere is inevitable for us like industries targeting basic human needs, all we can do is that to emphasize more on Clean Energy generation like Wind energy, Solar Energy, Hydroelectric projects etc..., and move at a rapid pace towards it, once such effort we can do is and have the ability to do so is to replace our fossil fuel based transportation mode to promising Electric Vehicle ecosystem.
Now as an example of my case where I would ride my bike for ~50kms for my commute to the office, I am the culprit of dumping at least 17gram of Carbon Di-Oxide to the atmosphere for every km, this is equivalent to 850gram of Carbon Di-Oxide!
We Humans who are always chasing science to unlock the mysteries of nature should be at least intelligent enough to not dig our own graveyard!
First of all, thanks for being here!
